Lot Essay

'The Tuggses at Ramsgate' has two plates by Seymour, the first illustrator of Pickwick; 'A Little Talk about Spring and Sweep' is illustrated with one plate by Buss. The former story was reprinted in the first octavo edition of Sketches by Boz (1839); the second became a part of the second series of the Sketches under the title 'The First of May'.
