ARCHERY
The Property of the Late William James Kinsman (1926-1991) Bill Kinsman became a member of the London Archers in 1952. Appointed Records Officer in 1954, he was later elected President and an Honorary Life Member of the Club. A member of the Royal Toxophilite Society and the British Longbow Society, he was also Records Officer (1957-1968) and Chairman (1960-69) of the County of London Archery Association; Member, past Membership secretary and past Honorary Secretary of the Society of Archer-Antiquaries; and Honorary Life Member of the Royal Richmond Archery Club, the Roving Bowmen, the Swan Archers and the Himeji Archery Association of Japan. Grand National Archery Society National Judge and Field Captain for many years, and Deputy Director of Shooting at the 1971 World Championships at York, Bill was awarded the Hartwell Trophy as 'Archer of the Year' in 1972. An avid collector of archery items since the 1950's, he was an internationally accepted expert on the subject. While the larger portion of his extensive archery library and collection of bows, arrows and general ephemera has been donated by his family to the Simon Archery Foundation in Manchester, the following selected items have been made available for sale by Christie's.
