This console is derived from a number of designs executed by the architect Pierre Contant D'Ivry (1698-1777). D'Ivry in 1752 was hired by the Duc D'Orleans for the redecoration of his apartments at the Palais-Royal. At the same time he was hired to design the new palace for the Baron de Bernstorff in Copenhagen.
