On the dedication page of the yearbook which reads: "To our adviser, principal and friend Marion Ross McDaniel we respectfully dedicate this book" (a formal portrait of the dedicatee is opposite), HEMINGWAY HAS WRITTEN in light blue ink just beneath the dedication: "To gum shoe Mac Neither my Principal my adviser nor my friend Ernest Hemingway." Hemingway is pictured in the group photographs for the Rifle Club and the Orchestra (here listed as George Hemingway under violoncellos).
