Lot Essay

This sculpture has also been titled Masque de vieillard and Etude pour la tête d'un Bourgeois de Calais. Mr. Mastbaum ordered and received two casts of this subject for the Musée Rodin, and a third was cast for the Gemeentemuseum, The Hague, in 1930 on the occasion of a Rodin retrospective.
