St.Mark and St.Luke, two illuminated miniatures of the Evangelists on vellum, [Germany, 17th century], St.Mark in blue and purple robes with his Lion looking over his shoulder, and St.Luke in scarlet and yellow with his Ox, are depicted reading the Gospels, with their names below in gilt on purple-grey ground, borders of nine gilt fillets, partially on black ground, each approximately 140 x 95mm.
