Lot Essay

The woodcuts are copied from the Venice edition of 1497. Sander cites the blocks as being reduced copies of a Rusconi set used in 1521. Paganini published three further vols. of Ovid in the same year, forming the complete works 'très difficile de réunir' (Brunet).
