A pair of Satsuma square vases painted and heavily gilt with panels of Kannon and rakan in river landscapes on a ground of floral and geometric designs (minute gilt rubbing) -- 6½in. high, signed Dai Nihon Satsuma yaki, Meigyokuzan; and a square bowl decorated with rakan entwined with dragons and mon on a ground of maple leaves and geometric designs -- 4in. wide, signed Dai Nihon Satsuma toki, Kinseizan.
