ELIZABETH W. SHUTES (SURVIVOR OF THE TITANIC)
A post-card from the "Carpathia" dated April 16th from Elizabeth Shutes to Mrs. Irving G. Mills saying 'Safe again after a horrible experience. No one could have received kinder treatment than we have had on this small but steady boat. So many wives without husbands. I have not even a shirt waist or a coat, no hat, but we did not wait for much. I shall never forget the sight of that great helpless "Titanic" disappearing from my sight and the awful moaning of those left to drown. Am well and so anxious to land. This boat is too small to accomodate us all'; together with an article from the 'Church News' with a description of her experience.
