An unusual black wax over composition shoulder-headed doll modelled as a negro, with wooden body, black kid arms, contemporary red petticoat, black striped silk dress, leather boots with lead heels and soles and bead decoration and plum velvet bead trimmed hat and stole - 16½in. high, possibly American, circa 1870
