Lot Essay

White states that this matchbox camera is of German origin. Two examples are known of which one has a fixed aperture (as in this case) and the other has an adjustable aperture. The action of pushing the camera forward inside the matchbox opened the front flap and released the shutter which was then reset on the reverse action.
