A Cantonese bowl painted and gilt with a continous scene of figures sparring with spears while being watched by ladies at windows and on terraces in a rocky river landscape, the interior with panels of dignitaries and precious objects among flowers (some rubbing to the Persian inscription, one minute glaze chip restored) -- 14½in. diam, dated AH 1309.
