HAVELOCK ELLIS (1859-1939)
A collection of 7 typescripts and 2 a.l.s., the tyescripts signed, frequent manuscript alterations in the author's hand, the letters dated 14 Dover Mansions, Canterbury Road, Brixton, London, S.W.9., 9 March '23 and 26 May '23 respectively, both to H.M. Tomlinson, the first commenting on 'The Psychology of Politics by Rivers', and the second discussing various literary projects and reviews: 'Baillie's Studies in Human Nature is a thoughtful and rather good argument (however unnecessary!) for not regarding the intellect as the only clue to reality ... '; the articles comprise: 'The World As Fiction' (14pp.), 'The Idea of Progress' (11pp.), 'The Place of Reason' (12pp.), 'Population and Evolution' (13pp.), 'The Islamic Reformation' (12pp), 'The World's Racial Problem' (10pp.), and 'The History of Marriage' (11pp.); and a photograph, signed on reverse, of Ellis sitting in a deckchair, writing (850 x 650mm.).
