OTTOLINE MORRELL (1873-1938)
A 4pp. a.l.s., The Manor House, Garsington, Oxford, June 3rd [no year], discussing a proposed trip to see Joseph Conrad ('He is the man of all others that moves me most -- He seems to have seen deeper into the great depths ... & beauty of life -- more almost [than] anyone else living'). She mentions her visit to Bertrand Russell in prison ('I lent your book to Bertrand Russell in prison & he enjoyed it enormously. You may be instructed to know what he said about it - in one of the letters that he sends to his brothers: I will copy it'), and comments favourably on Henry James ('Some said I thought Henry James dwelt too much on "honour" - I meant more "good manners" than honour - I see more & more how destitute the world is of REAL honour. I didn't realise it was so & how beautiful & essential it is'); and 2 other a.l.s. by Morrell, one a fragment. (3)
