"FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES TO CAPTAIN JOHN JOSEPH PROUD OF THE BRITISH SHOP SS SUTHERLAND FOR HIS HUMANE SERVICES IN EFFECTING THE RESCUE OF THE CREW OF THE AMERICAN SCHOONER 'PETER H CROWEL' NOVEMBER 11 1893"
The full-plate lever movement signed Appleton Tracy & Co WALTHAM MASS 17 jewels; a 9ct gold fetter and 3 watch chains, and a 19th century gold triple charm fob with floral chased fittings and 'capstan bar' charm
