Lot Essay

The first work is a MLG metrical version of 5,886 lines by Meister Stephan, written at Dorpat in Estonia, 1350-75, and printed at Lübeck, c. 1489. The second is a MHG version of 10,772 lines written by Heinrich von Beringen in the early part of the 14th century, edited from the unique Stuttgart MS of 1438 (cf. Murray, p. 548).
