Lot Essay

According to Dr Erzsébet Király in a letter to Christie's dated 7 May 1992, József Lukács was a director of the Hitelbank and is recorded as an art collector in Hungarian art literature.
The painting depicts the artist's home in Kaposvár and the model was his French wife Lazarine
