A rare autograph letter, signed, [n.d. but circa January 1978] to Martin Smith editor of a fanzine Youth Anthem, giving Rotten's reasons for replying to his letter in person ...'cos its not the usual type of letter that I get sent. Mostly there (sic) from silly girls who've fallen in love and want to marry me, or just plain mad death threats.., and giving him his account of the break up of The Sex Pistols ..The band have now broken up due mainly to Mr McLarens paranoia & spite, Steve and Pauls foolishness for still believing he aint no crook, and Sids stupid drug abuse. I aint totally without blame either I suppose, c'os I freely admit to being an arrogant big head who always has a sarcastic answer when I feel like it..., and discussing the future ... I will not work with them ever again..Malcolm will find someone new to abuse...Paul and Steve will ..always be told what to do. Sid I hope will grow up and give up his stupid weakness, and Im going solo...Yours John Rotten, P.S. The rest of the band are either in Rio or hospital I think... inscribed with five additional signatures John Rotten at the foot of the page, 2pp.
