FIRST EDITION, Third State (heretofore called "Trial Issue") with "Stave I" as the first chapter heading, title-page printed in red and green and dated 1844, green endpapers; in W.B. Todd's "First impression, first issue" binding, 4 hand-colored steel engravings by and after John Leech, 4 text woodcuts by W.J. Linton after Leech. Smith I, no. 4.
