BROWN, JOHN, Radical Abolitionist. Autograph letter signed ("John Brown") to his brother O.O. Brown and William H. Munroe in Ohio; Boston, 3 June 1839. 1 full page, 4to, 250 x 200mm. (10 x 8 in.), integral address leaf in Brown's hand, evenly browned, else fine. An early letter, with detailed directions on a land purchase: "I...expect to send an agent from this place to examine my land in Franklin, Hudson, & Twinsburg, being in all (including the one Hundred acres in Twinsburgh bought of Oliver) about five hundred acres. I want Oliver to have properly executed Deeds, on the Twinsburgh land executed, & recorded without delay...Should an agent come out, I shall refer them to you, & wish to have you go on the premises with him without fail, & use as good & influence him in my favour as to showing the land, its location, & value, as you can consistently with good conscience..."
