An unusual small diameter (7¾inch) reflecting circle,signed CHAS.HERVEY TOWNSHEND PATD JAN. 31 1888, with two index arms, each with its own index mirror with vernier scale and swivel magnifier and each having its own endless tangent worm and pinion assembly, mounted beneath the main frame (protected by a pierced brass cylindrical cover) two mahogany handles, inset silver scale divided 0°-180°-0°-180°, the horizon glass with transparent centre band, telescope holder, with telescopes and other accessories in fitted mahogany case - 9¼in(24cm)diam.
