The Chrysède silk works were closely linked to the thriving artistic community in Newlyn. The works were set up by Alec George Walker in 1920 shortly after moving to Cornwall and marrying Kathleen (Kay) Earle. Alec Walker met Dufy and Zadkine on a visit to Paris, and they encouraged him to design textiles. He exhibited in the British Insitute of Industrial Art Exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1925. He retired from the business in 1939.
