A circular electrotype plaque moulded with a vignette of Diana at her toilette surrounded by hand maidens within a classical building with Doric columns, the broad everted rim decorated with stylised palm leaves, a mask and two griffins supporting a vacant cartouche, narrower decorative friezes to both sides, Elkington and Co., Birmingham, the revers with a diamond registration mark and various patent numbers for Austria, Germany, France and America, with suspension loops.

The original plaque was sculpted by Leonard Morel - Ladeuil (1820-1888), a French artist-embosser who came to England to work for Elkingtons in 1859, creating most of his works at a studio above the companys premises in Regent Street London. Morel-Ladeuil worked in iron on silver, and the firm of Elkington and Co reproduced his works by the electrotype process for general sale.
