EARLY HAND-MADE REBUS CARD
A water-colour pen and ink rebus card, the outside depicting a heart, the manuscript verse around the border reads 'Dear love this heart which you behold/Will break when you these leaves unfold/Even so, my heart with love sick pain/is wounded is if it breaks in vain', each fold opening to reveal another verse and finally a centre with 7 hearts, folded 4 x 4in., c. 1820-30.
