Three valentines sent to 'Master Henry Brown, Boston, 15 Tyler St', all in original chromolithographed envelopes, two cameo embossed with decorations applied to the centre, the other with an embossed border and hand-coloured details, the central chromolithographed medallion depicting a ship at sea lifting to reveal a message, S. 5¾ x3¾in., L. 7½ x 4¾in., c. 1860-70; together with a cameo embossed gilded valentine with gauze centre applied with a chromolithograph of Cupid, opening to reveal a hand-coloured woodcut engraving of a young boy and girl reading in a garden, the original embossed envelope addressed to 'Miss Lizzie Brown'.
