VICTORIAN VALENTINE
A valentine card with an embossed pierced paperlace border heightened with gilded details, the hand-coloured lithographed centre depicting two couples leaving a country church, the printed verse reads 'Thou art now mine own, my lov'd one/No power but death can sever/The chains that bind, our mutual mind/To live and love for ever/In love! In life! may e'en in death/To thee I'll true be, ever/Woe, grief, or pain, shall strive in vain, Death/Us alone shall sever', 10 x 8in., c. 1840-50.
