VICTORIAN VALENTINES
A valentine with an embossed border, the hand-coloured lithograph centre depicting a milk churn and a yoke, the printed riddle below reads 'Why, if your love was analysed/would you be subject to the/law that governs dairymen?', the centre lifts up to reveal the answer 'Because/First, you have little of/the milk of kindness/and, secondly, what you/have is but a milk/and watery affair', 5 x 3in., c. 1870-80; and four other hand-coloured lithographed cards and a dressed doll valentine card.
