A finely detailed exhibition standard 1:128 scale diorama 'Vigilant has her bottom painted, An occasion to be recorded', built by K.Britten. Measurements overall -- 15½ x 12¾in (39.3 x 32.5cm) Vigilant has been floated on to a timber framework by a river bank so that as the tide recedes the whole hull is clear of water and painting is in progress. A photographer, head under a black cloth is standing in the foreground taking pictures with a tripod mounted box camera. The hull is shown with masts and rigging, main hatch partially open, and tools and'clutter' lying around. Finished in green, brown, mud and other colours. Glazed case with storage compartment under.
