Oil on canvas study of a studio, the photographer with hand on brass lens cap of a sliding-box wet-plate camera, mounted on a studio stand, and directing the camera towards a man in peasant's attire, the photographer's assistant surveying the scene, in gilt frame, circa 1860 - 50 x 40in.
