Wells, of 14 lines, dated 13 Hanover Terrace, Regent's Park, N.W.1, to Francis Bauer-Czarnomski, discussing war crimes: "Later on I may be able to use your very excellent suggestion of shifting the responsibility for the war outrages on to the German army class, so rendering possible a reasonable deal with the German common people that would bring the British policy into agreement with Stalin's outspoken views;" together with a 1p. a.n.s. by Wells, a 1p. a.l.s. by John Galsworthy, a 1p. a.l.s. by Hugh Walpole and an a.n. unsigned by General Wladyslaw Sikorski. Czarnomski wrote an article published in The Sunday Dispatch on March 21st 1943 outlining a plan to: "save the oppressed peoples of Europe from further tortures by the Germans ... It has already been submitted privately to various authorities and has caused Mr. H.G. Wells to describe Mr. Czarnomski as a man who has "put his finger on the realities of the case."
