A German stoneware mug applied with moulded panels of soldiers in 16th Century costume, with hinged silver-gilt cover, handle and mounts, the cover inset with a Philip and Mary silver groat of circa 1555, inscribed to the base THIS BEAUTIFUL 16TH CENTURY JUG WAS DREDGED UP IN THE RIVER YARE, GREAT YARMOUTH, AND MOUNTED BY SEYMOUR LUCAS, 1892 (minute chips) maker's mark and hallmarks -- 6in. high
