Signed Jotenko (?Yamada, Ise Province), Edo Period (Mid-19th Century) Katabori, stained boxwood; a crisply carved model of a cockerel sitting on the ground with its long tail curved round, the feathers executed in careful detail, the himotoshi formed by a larger and a smaller hole in the base, signed with incised characters underneath the breast Jotenko
