JAMES DUNN Jimmy Dunn is the son of the famous Everton and Scotland Internationalist "Ginger" Dunn who will always be remembered as one of the "Wembley Wizards" who helped defeat England 5-1 in 1928. Jimmy was born in Edinburgh on 25th November 1923 and joined Wolves whilst playing for an amateur side in the Merseyside and District league. He soon turned professional and made several appearances for Wolves before war intervened. After the war Jimmy found himself playing in the Central League and it wasn't until Stan Cullis moved him to inside-left that he was able to command a regular first-team place. His partner on the left side was Jimmy Mullen and they had immediate success. Indeed, it was this partnership that helped Wolves to the 1948-49 F.A.Cup final where they met Leicester City. Wolves, with the legendary Billy Wright in defence defeated Leicester 3-1 with goals from Pye (2) and Smyth. In 1950 Dunn's playing career was put on hold as he suffered a serious back injury. However, he continued to serve Wolves until 1952 when Derby County paid #20,000 for his services. In 1955 Dunn joined Worcester City in the Southern League, and later became coach at West Bromwich Albion helping them to two League Cup finals and an F.A. Cup final.
