THE BEATLES A rare double-sided acetate of The Beatles performing live at The Cavern, the acetate for Some Other Guy/Kansas City, Emidisc white label inscribed with the song titles and additional information including Recorded By Granada T.V. and The Beatles, The Cavern Club Liverpool, 5-9-62 - the two songs taped at a lunchtime session on 22 August 1962 by a Granada T.V. film unit for the purpose of a T.V. broadcast, the first time that The Beatles had been filmed by a televison crew:
This recording of Some Other Guy is different from the one which accompanies the well-known Granada T.V. footage and also different from the one alternative version previously known to exist - in this version, following their introduction by Cavern D.J. Bob Wooler, the Beatles launch into a spirited rendition of their R&B song, but one they are apparantly unhappy with, for at its conclusion John Lennon announces We'll probably have to do it again;
The film footage accompanying Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey was of such poor quality that it was deemed unfit for broadcast and was junked soon afterwards; it has long been documented that the Beatles recorded this second song but this is the first time that the recording has come to light; - as the film itself no longer exists for Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey or for this version of Some Other Guy, this acetate is likely to be the only surviving copy of both these songs - it is also the only known professional recording of The Beatles at the Cavern Club, the famous venue where the group made almost 300 appearances. Sold without copyright.
