The above jersey was purchased at a Charity auction in 1979 by the father of the present vendor. The jersey was donated by Charlton who informed the organisers that he wore it during the 1966 World Cup semi-final against Portugal, when England defeated them 2-1, Charlton scoring both goals. The letter from Charlton which accompanies the above lot states "Thank you for your letter regarding the England football shirt. I am pleased to confirm that the shirt is mine. Best Wishes, Yours sincerely, Bobby Charlton".
