A mid-Victorian burr-walnut piano-top davenport, the hinged rectangular top with three-quarter fret-carved gallery, opening by means of a sprung mechanism and enclosing stationery compartments, the front lifting to a bird's-eye-maple interior of two short drawers and a sliding ratchetted writing surface, with pen trough and inkwells, above four short drawers opposed by four false drawers, with turned feet and castors -- 22in. (56cm.) wide, 37½in. 21in. (56cm.) deep, (95cm.) high (closed).
