The movement striking on two coiled gongs, the arched brass dial with silvered chapter-ring, the sand-ground centre inscribed P.M.Westren, Edinburgh, enclosed by a glazed door, the shaped pediment surmounted by a pineapple finial, flanked by four similar finials to the angles, the sides with arched pierced and foliate-cast panels, on rectangular base applied with a band of stiff-leaf decoration, on acanthus-cast scrolled supports
