Roy Ullyett was born at Leytonstone, Essex, in 1914. He began as sports correspondent for The Star and then as cartoonist to the Daily Express from 1953. His work is represented in the paper's annnuals from 1956-1974. He has illustrated over 20 books with sports cartoons, including I'm the Greatest. The Wit and Humour of Muhammed Ali, 1975 and Cue for a Laugh, 1984.
