Daisey and Violet were born in Brighton in February 1908. Their mother was described at the time as a "servant girl", and was presumably unmarried. Due to the circumstances of both their condition and her position, it is not surprising that they were adopted almost immediately. The midwife who assisted in their birth, Mrs. Hilton, adopted the girls and took them to live with her husband at the family pub. It was decided not to risk seperating the girls due to the dangers to one or both.
As young women Violet and Daisey became performers on the music hall and Vauedville circit as was the norm at this time. They toured throughout the U.K. and the U.S., where they eventually settled and married. Both marriges ended in divorce. They were found dead in bed in 1969.
