A large-size stop-watch, No. 554, the matt-silver dial with three seperate chapters, one recording minutes elapsed, the next seconds elapsed and the third hundredths of a second elapsed, subsidiary up-and-down indicator, blued-steel hands, the fusee movement with circular spotting to the plates, very rapid oscillatior lever escapement, three-armed uncut mono-metal balance, the outer periphery with multi-milled edge with assocciated locking detent assembly operated operated by push-in Start and Stop and Hand Re-set buttons on outside of polished and lacquered brass drum case, butterfly winder, screw-secured bezel with flat glass, the whole contained in circular leather-covered velvet-lined carrying case -- 3½in.(9cm.)diam.

Lot Essay

Lobner was in business at Potsdamer Strass, Berlin from 1890-1923. He is credited with making the first recording multi-second horse-race timer. He also made fine astronomical regulator clocks.
