by Nicole Freres, No.36708, with four-overture programme (Les Hugenots, I Puritani, Norma and Tancredi, Gamme No.1703), lever-wind, three control levers, silvered tune list by Nicole Freres for Wales & McCulloch and rosewood-veneered case inlaid on the front in brass, tortoiseshell, mother-of-pearl and enamel and on the lid in brass and simulated marble --28¾in. (73cm.) wide, the cyliner 16¾ x 4in. (42.5 x 10cm.) diam., circa 1860

Lot Essay

The second overture in the programme has been obliterated by a run. However, the two-piece comb is undamaged apart from one broken tooth and a lack of dampers. Similar examples were sold in these rooms on December 13 1990 (No.35969) and December 5 1991 (No.32027)
