Lot Essay

The attribution to Lefebvre is based on a stylistic comparison with examples known to be by the firm, in particular a pair of gold ground vases Fuseau in the Grand Trianon at Versailles of similar form and also raised on Belgian marble bases. Cf. Régine de Plinval de Guillebon, Faïance et porcelaine de Paris, XVIII. - XIX. siècles, Paris, 1995, color plate opposite p. 328, fig. 313
