A large Roman gilt-bronze crossbow fibula, with three knobbed terminals at the head, the semi-circular bow supported by a scrolled cross bar, a central niello inlay strip runs the length of the body, incised with a scrolling pattern inlaid in gilt, bordered by incised volutes, pin intact -- 3¾in. (9.5cm.) long, 3rd-4th Century A.D.
