A Japanese painting in sumi and colours on silk depicting snails, frogs, grasshoppers, beetles and other insects crawling over a dense cluster of flowers including hydrangea, peonies, chrysanthemums, irises and lilies (silk damaged at bottom right hand corner) -- 21in. X 14½in., signed and dated Dai Nippon Nankoku Hakkyo saku with cyclical date 1870.
