Lot Essay

The Wallis family were famous juvenile publishers during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Edward's father, John Wallis founded the firm in 1775 and his other son, John, published separately, as well as working with his father and brother. They produced dissected puzzles as well as board games. Edward was in business at Skinner Street between 1818 and 1847.
