Ronald Staniforth was born in Newton Heath, Manchester on 13th April 1924 and joined Huddersfield Town in 1952 from Stockport County. During his stay at Huddersfield Town he made 8 full England International appearances, before joining Sheffield Wednesday in July 1955. With Wednesday he won Division 2 Championship's in 1956 and 1959 before joining Barrow as player/manager in October 1959
