A German kingwood, marquetry and gilt-metal-mounted bombe secretaire, decorated with ebonised reserve panels of a young couple and a playful hound in a landscape and trailing floral stems with birds, having a marble top with a ledge back with two shaped shelves centred by an urn, fitted with a concave frieze drawer, the fall enclosing a tooled leather-lined writing surface and fitted interior with drawers and shelves, flanked by canted angles, decorated with Berlin woolwork type marquetry, containing a shaped apron drawer below on accentuated scroll front supports, headed with espagnolettes and similar marquetry below on a shaped plinth base, mid 19th century -- 32in. (82cm.) wide, 18in. (45cm.) deep, 61in. (153cm.) high.
