A Napoleon III ebonised bonheur du jour, gilt-metal-mounted and inlaid with brass lines, the superstructure enclosed by a pair of doors centred by an oval Sevres style plaquette, painted with scenes of a young couple playing a musical instrument and fitted with two drawers below, the base with a frieze drawer and tooled leather-lined writing slide on turned fluted tapering legs joined by a concave undertier on toupie feet -- 33in (84cm.) wide, 20½in. (50cm.) deep, 54in. (137cm.) high.
