An Edwardian four-piece compressed moulded circular tea service in the Regency taste, each on a rim base and with an applied gadroon, shell, mask and foliate everted rim and chased and embossed with rococo flowers, foliage, trellis work, scalework, cornucopiae and vacant rococo cartouches, the teapot and hot water jug with chased spouts and domed hinged covers with floral and foliate-decorated circular finials - height of hot water jug 8½in., with a matching shaped oblong two-handled tray with inscription:"Presented to Frederick Howarth Esquire, by his friends, in recognition of the valuable services rendered by him during many years to the Unionist Party in Bury. December, 1909" - 29½in. overall, in a walnet-veneered case lined in purple plush and quilted satin, with carrying handles and a detachable stand on casters, Elkington & Co., Birmingham 1906, 1907 and 1908 - 244oz.
