A pair of large Cantonese vases with foliate rims, Buddhistic lion handles and moulded guei dragons to the shoulders, each painted and gilt with a lady seated in a carriage flanked by two attendants carrying banners and ruyi sceptres and before a deer and cranes in a flower strewn garden, the reverses with ducks among peonies and butterflies, the necks with shaped panels of birds among flowers and rockwork on geometric pattern grounds (one with one handle restored, the other rivetted and restuck) -- 31½in. high, pierced wood stands.
